About Us - SANTA CRUZ MASTERS AQUATICS
CRUZ was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1989 (201c7).
Original founders were George and Tillie Cunningham, Scott Patterson,
Paul Wrangell, Joel Wilson, Brooke Dick, and Kevin Petite. Our purpose
is to provide adult fitness swimming for the city, county, and university
communities and to assist local aquatics-related organizations to develop
and grow.
To achieve this we provide several workouts per week to help adults
reach their fitness goals through swimming in a supportive and fun atmosphere.
We compliment these workouts with specialty clinics throughout the year
which are designed to improve a swimmer’s stroke technique regardless
of whether the swimmer wishes to only swim for exercise or to compete
in the many Pool, Open Water meets or Triathalon events.
Our current roster lists 200+ swimmers with 100 of those swimming on
a daily basis during the spring and summer seasons, about 75 swimming
daily during the fall and winter seasons.
Santa
Cruz Masters uses the pools at the University of California, Santa Cruz
and San Lorenzo Valley High School. We host at least one Pacific Masters
Swimming Championship meet each year. We also host two open water swims
every year: the CRUZ CRUISE, a two mile ocean swim, and the PIER TO
PIER ten kilometer ocean swim. We also assists with the 1-Mile Roughwater
Swim, hosted by the local Surf-Lifesaving Association and the City of
Santa Cruz.

ALL CRUZ SWIMMERS MUST BE REGISTERED WITH PACIFIC MASTERS SWIMMING.
